Within any family, larger models cost more than smaller ones — bigger BTU output means more steel, a larger heat exchanger, and more capacity overall. Getting the size right matters for cost as much as for comfort: oversizing pays for capacity you don't need, and undersizing means the boiler works harder than it should.

Installation costs: chimney, mechanical room, and labor
Installation is often a bigger swing factor than the boiler itself. Three things drive it:

- Labor: rates vary significantly by region and installer, and a wood boiler installation is more involved than swapping a like-for-like appliance.
None of this is one-size-fits-all. An installation into an existing mechanical room with a usable chimney costs meaningfully less than a full new mechanical-room build-out.
